What should I do when I hit a traffic light in a city? Should I jog in place, jog around the corner to the next intersection, or stop and rest, or stretch?

Keep moving- don't let your muscles cramp up or get too cold keep your blood pumping by running in place.

Arthur Lydiard used to preach that you shouldn't stop for more than 10 or 12 seconds at a time because it disrupted the capillary growing process in your muscles [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Lydiard]. I'm not sure how true that is, but if you stop your blood pressure certainly goes down. I used to jog in place to stay warm, but after a while realized that a lot of times these are just good opportunities to stretch.

That said, there's no right answer. Do what feels good. Stretch if you feel like you need it, jog if you want to stay warm, or stand if you need the break.
